Two Days in Eau Claire.

So, there probably isn’t any reason in the world to visit Eau Claire, Wisconsin unless you have family there. I mean, you can go for the cheese curds, but there are far more interesting towns to visit in Wisconsin that also have cheese curds.

Chicken Farmer by Dale Lewis.

But if you do visit, and we do because my mom and dad live there these days, you will be shocked to know Eau Claire has 87 outdoor sculptures, making it the largest outdoor sculpture tour in the U.S.

Salmon Runner by Heather Wall. Its a little hard to see, but he is made, in part, of fish sculptures. Apparently, he used to have a fish in his mouth. But, some horrible person ripped it out. People suck.

The sculptures rotate, with the people’s favorite each year being purchased by the non-profit that organizes the art. Local business have purchased other pieces for long-term display.

Pretty cool Eau Claire, pretty cool.

About theschneiduks

Lisa has a degree in biology and another in law and has spent the last 20 years working as a patent litigator. She is a voracious reader of young adult dystopian fiction and watches far too much bad tv. She loves pretty much anything to do with zombies, and doesn’t think there is anything weird about setting an alarm at 6 am on a weekend to stumble to a pub to watch her beloved Chelsea boys. Robert has had many professions, including a chef, a salesman, an IT guy and most recently, a stay at home dog dad. He speaks Italian and hopes to learn Spanish on this trip. He loves nothing more than a day spent sailing, hopes to do more scuba diving, and rues the day he introduced Lisa to football (i.e., soccer).
