We decided to keep track of some fun facts during our PigFish travels. This page will be frequently amended and updated as our travels progress. If there is something else you would like to see on this page, just let us know.

Worst restaurant experience:

  • Robert:  The Pub in Kandy.  Bad English pub food at greatly inflated prices.  The BBQ place in Dalat that refused to let us cook our own BBQ and (we think) stole half our chicken.
  • Lisa:  The street stall in Hanoi that never brought us our beverages or one of the two entrees we ordered.

Best coffee:

  • Robert: All over Vietnam
  • Lisa: Come on, coffee is even worse than beer

Worst coffee:

  • Robert: Anywhere Nescafe is served
  • Lisa:  Can something be the worst when all of it is nasty?

Favorite Fruit:

  • Robert: Mangosteen
  • Lisa: Pomelo

Best excursion:

  • Robert: Hanging out with cheetahs in South Africa Scuba diving in Koh Lipe Moto trip up Bokor Mountain
  • Lisa: South African safari Moto trip up Bokor Mountain

Souvenirs we wish we could have bought:

  • Robert: Longyi in Myanmar, Kampot pepper in Cambodia, Coffee in Vietnam and Costa Rica, LED helicopter (sold all over Asia), small black lacquer bed acting as a coffee table

  • Robert:  Kaday Aung in Bagan

Living things we missed the most:

  • Robert: Our pets, our friends and riding bikes
  • Lisa: Our friends

Non-living things we missed the most:

  • Robert: Fancy cocktails
  • Lisa: Match days at AJH and Sunday afternoons at Red Door

Most miserable experience:

  • Robert: Being wedded to a toilet for 2 days in Bangkok AND in Phnom Penh
  • Lisa: Hiking the volcano in Leon (although boarding down made it worth it) Hiking up the mountain in Battanbang

Happiest moment on the trip:

  • Robert: Hanging out with cheetahs in South Africa Scuba diving in Koh Lipe Riding a scooter, always feeling like Nanni Moretti on one
  • Lisa: Watching lions, cheetahs and giraffes in the Greater Kruger area Chilling in Kampot

Best Internet: Posh Hotel Hanoi MK Hotel (Yangon)

Worst Internet: Kaday Aung Hotel (Bagan)

Cheapest country: Vietnam (by a hair) Cambodia

Most expensive country: South Africa (b/c of the safari) Singapore Myanmar

Favorite country:

  • Robert: Vietnam Cambodia
  • Lisa: Cambodia

Worst Boarding Crossing: Sixola, Costa Rica to Guabito, Panama

Least favorite country:  Egypt, which is why we didn’t go there on this trip!

Things we should have packed but didn’t:  All purpose tool, corkscrew, can opener (purchased in Ao Nang), sarong (purchased in Koh Lipe), mask/snorkel (not that a mask/snorkel would have fit in our luggage)
